I know that runners occasionally talk about "hitting a wall." This usually means a sudden loss of energy. Yesterday, I "hit the wall" while jogging on my treadmill. I know I am in poor shape (right now), but this had nothing to do with my endurance. I literally hit the wall. Well, not quite.
I was about twenty minutes into my jog when the treadmill stopped abruptly. My chest hit the treadmill's console while my feet slipped on the running surface. Consequently, I have severe pains in my chest, hips, knees, and back. I only wished that it looked as funny as it sounded.
The New York Times recently published an article on how young people pass on political news and most news in general. Essentially, they get their news primarily from social networking sites and e-mails from their friends. I guess that is is probably true as I found this on Slashdot. :)
I have been noticing a number of people reaching my site who are looking for "Jaguar faucets." At first, I was wondering if the famous car maker was branching out. I might not be able to afford a car from Jaguar, but I was curious about a Jaguar faucet. After some brief research, I was unable to find anything, but I wondered if maybe people were looking for beer taps with the Jacksonville Jaguars logo.
It has been a week since I started the National President's Challenge. I have not lost any weight according to my logs. In fact, I have apparently gained a few pounds. However, I know from past experience that my daily weighings can fluctuate by a few pounds. It all depends on when I weigh, when I ate last and what I am wearing. The Challenge continues into mid-May (though I plan to keep exercising past then).
I enjoy using Firefox for the majority of my web browsing. Anyway, I found a Firefox add-on called ScribeFire. It lets me edit my blog without actually having to log onto my site. It is a cool idea, but I am undecided so far.
I have been using Quicken to manage my personal finances for at least a decade. I recently upgraded to the 2008 version. I am disappointed that I can no longer show my bank account balances on the Quicken.com website. I found this on Quicken's website:
I understand the importance of saving time. On one machine I work with, it runs a process several hundred times a day. Decreasing the cycle time by as little as a second, can greatly improve throughput over the course of a day.
If so, go to Google's AdSense Blog. They have a post on how a simple SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) can get you a free Google AdSense sticker. I might get one if only I used stamps. Or envelopes. Or stickers. But, at least it is free.
Rachel and I do not yet have kids (since some people do not count pets as kids). But, that did not stop us for attempting to dye some eggs. For whatever reason, the eggs did not come out as good as I wanted. Maybe the water was not hot enough or we got our proportions wrong. As they will probably just be eaten in a few days, it is probably a moot point. We also spent time making deviled eggs. As least I know those will be eaten within the next few days.
The two most popular days to start an exercise regime are "tomorrow" and "Monday." Tomorrow kicks off the National President's Challenge. The goal is to get the nation up and moving. We (mostly me) are too fat. I had been using the President's Challenge website a few years ago. However, now that I spend two additional hours commuting every morning I lost my exercise time. I miss my morning exercises (sometimes). Well, starting tomorrow, I am going to attempt to do my exercises after work. I am dubious in my ability to succeed.
