Slow Morning

Printer-friendly version

Typically, when I get to work, I follow the same routine: Dock my laptop, get something to drink, change the date on my calendar, etc. Today, my routine fell apart.

I have a self-stirring cup that I love. However, when I tried mixing my morning cup of hot chocolate, the motor choked and froze. I grabbed a stirrer and went along my way. I figured that either the blades were stuck, or the batteries had died. At any rate, I could not properly diagnose the problem until my cup was empty.

Drink in hand I turned on my MP3 player. I like to listen to the local radio morning show. This morning, it said that the battery was low. I am thinking that the jostling of my backpack turned it on at some point over the weekend. It was only a minor annoyance as the radio show also streams its show. I plug my MP3 player into to charge and focus my attention to my computer.

Immediately I noticed that the computer booting up a lot slower than normal. It seems that our internet connection is having problems today. That means that the applications that run at startup are taking quite a while before they fail. Unfortunately, I need a number of those applications for my job. At this rate, I will be lucky if I get anything accomplished before lunchtime.
