Check Engine Light

Rachel and I have been trying to get out of debt for a long time. It seems that every time we get closer to getting our head above water, something strikes us down. On my way home from work on Monday, the Check Engine light came on. I know that sometimes the light will illuminate if the gas cap is loose. And, as I am perpetually filling up the vehicle, I was hoping that was the cause.

I pulled over at a gas station to check. I removed and replaced the gas cap. Then, I sat there for a few minutes when the engine off. When I restarted the vehicle, the light illuminated again. Ugh. I made an appointment to drop off the vehicle.

On Wednesday, nearly seven hundred dollars later, I had my vehicle again. The service department had to replace a few hoses and seals. In addition, one of my tie rods needed replacing. This meant that I had to get the tires realigned as well. I hope there will be no other expenses like this for a while. We are having a hard enough time trying to pay bills as it is.
