Jaguar Faucets

I have been noticing a number of people reaching my site who are looking for "Jaguar faucets." At first, I was wondering if the famous car maker was branching out. I might not be able to afford a car from Jaguar, but I was curious about a Jaguar faucet. After some brief research, I was unable to find anything, but I wondered if maybe people were looking for beer taps with the Jacksonville Jaguars logo.

Updating Blog

I have finally migrated all of my old blog content. Enjoy!

New Year's 2008

I hope that everyone had a safe holiday. Rachel and I fell asleep shortly before midnight. I had got up around four yesterday morning, so I was starting to drift off. We drove out to Sandusky for a late lunch at Olive Garden with Rachel’s mom. While it had been snowing most of the time, I did not think it was too bad. But, on one short section of the highway, there were at least four cards stuck in the median. As we did not see these vehicles on the way out there, we assume that they slid off the rode shortly before we arrived. I do not know if they were going to fast or what.

Obsessive Compulsive

I don’t know if I’m obsessive compulsive, too anal retentive, or what. But, I am not happy with my website. Originally, I maintained most of my website’s source code. I manually edited simple pages with a text editor. I created a program to input my blog entries and upload them. Software running on the web server, however, managed my photo gallery.

Website Domains

I currently have a couple of domains in addition to my silverjaguar.com domain. I finally caught up with my e-mail and noticed that one of them had expired and a second one was expiring today. I was just going to re-register everything, but my current registrar charges $34.99 a piece. So, I decided to go with GoDaddy.com which only charges $7.19 for each one.

I started the transfer on two of the domains. But, I am having difficulties with the one that already expired. I might just let it expire. I am not sure yet.

Drupal Upgrade And Debris

I am currently using Drupal as the content management system (CMS) for my website. Last night I attempted to upgrade to the latest version. Unfortunately, my web server was not running the latest version of PHP. I contacted my hosting provider and they agreed to move me over to a server with a later version. Unfortunately, because the upgrade only partially succeeded, I am having to re-migrate all of my blog entries by hand (again).

More Site Reconstruction

In the last few weeks, I have erased everything from my website, reformatted it, erased it, and reformatted it again. Today, I will hopefully erase it and reformat it for the last time (at least for a while). It took a long time to get everything the way that I want it to be. As I see it, the time I am spending now is well spent. I would rather fix most of the problems up front rather than have to fix them down the road. I still have quite a lot of content to format and upload. I thank you for continuing to be patient.

Content Management

I want to update my site. Sure, it serves the needs of the few visitors who frequent my site. But, it does not quite serve my needs. When I first started this site in the mid-nineties, one had to manage their own content. I wrote several programs to help manage my site. In particular, I wrote my own blogging software. The upside of my software is that I have infinite control of when content gets posted and the various ways that it can appear. The downside is that I have to make all of my blog entries from my home computer. I would like to blog while I am away from home.

Domain Switch

I finally got my domain name, silverjaguar.com, switched to a new web-hosting provider. I liked old provider, but as they did not offer discounts for multiple domains, I needed to switch. I like my new provider a lot better. I hope that no one is having problems (hopefully no one even noticed the changeover). Let me know if you have any problems or questions.

Links

I thought that I would post some links to that people have been asking me about it. The first is a link to the final Harry Potter book. The deluxe edition is also available.

The second is a link to the digital picture frame I have on my desk. The picture frame holds about sixty pictures, but it can take memory sticks. Several of my coworkers have commented about it.
